Our Rescue Partners
What are Rescue or Adoption Partners?
Rescue partners (also known as adoption partners) are city-, town-, or county-run shelters that collaborate with nonprofit rescue groups to streamline the process of exiting animals from the shelters.
Sometimes these animals are considered high-risk and labeled as “rescue only.” This means that this particular pet is not up for open adoption (usually for what the shelter deems “medical” or “behavioral” issues. When this happens, the animal’s only chance of being able to exit the shelter is through a rescue group.
While many shelters will provide non-rescue partners with intermittent “courtesy pulls,” being an approved rescue partner makes the entire process of wanting to pull an animal much easier, both in time and money.
Once a rescue group pulls an animal from the shelter, whether they’re labeled “rescue only,” or not, the rescue group can then place that animal with a foster family, adopt he or she out to a safe and loving forever home, or have them remain in a sanctuary-type setting.
In our case, many times we pull a pet from one of these shelters and give them the best and most fun freedom ride to their next destination, usually a foster family on behalf of another rescue. We’re also able to screen individuals for private adoption of any shelter animal, including those labeled as “rescue only.”
We are lucky that we’re approved with nearly 1 dozen city, town, and county shelters throughout California.
If you need an animal pulled and don’t see their name below, don’t worry! Many counties and cities don’t require a formal Rescue Partner or allow for courtesy pulls. Contact us with any questions!
We’re always looking to expand our reach. Let us know if you have a recommendation for a shelter where we should be applying to become a rescue partner.
