Ruger’s Rescues is a different type of rescue!

This is Hippo. Little did Hippo know that on June 28, 2019, both of our lives would change for the better.

That morning, I was sponsored by Shadow’s Fund, a wonderful rescue in Lompoc, CA - a small city on California's Central Coast. I was sponsored by them to make a 6-hour round-trip drive to pick up Hippo...on her euthanasia day. Nobody from the rescue was available to make the drive that day, and an individual had to be "sponsored" by a rescue in order to pick her up. Hippo had an adopter waiting, but due to health concerns, she was unable to make the drive up state.

For various reasons, many times counterintuitive, Hippo is one of thousands of amazing pups that cannot be adopted by any individual person looking to adopt; they are only released to a rescue.  

The tragic reality is that if there is not a rescue that is available to transport a pup out of the shelter, a wonderful animal deserving of love and a 2nd chance may not make it out. This is all due to a lack of available rescues.

Cue the beginning of Ruger's Rescues.

One day, we'll have a large property with space for a sanctuary. Until then, we always knew that there were immediate ways to make a huge difference. I think we found it.

• Rugers Rescues is for those organizations that don't have anyone available for an urgent pick-up.

• Ruger's Rescues is for those individuals and families up and down the state (and even in other states) that found that special one, but are unable to get to the shelter in time or transport them home.

• Ruger's Rescues is definitely for those individuals who want to rescue an animal in urgent need, but the one they fell in love with can only be released to a rescue.

No animal or future rescuer should ever be stuck in this position. Let us help you!
